"Holy pau-!!!" Gri'Chak couldnt finish his curse before more of the landscape around him was blasted. Purple arrows of superheated plasma were bombarding his roost on the top of an already decimated building. What was going on here!? This wasnt anything like what he had encountered before. Gri'Chak had been in multiple wars on this planet. They had ranged from humid jungles, sweltering deserts, urban cities and his least favorite, icy tundras. Each place held its own challenges and rewards. Each yielded its own types of prey that were unique. But this was completely new. Much of the time there were oomans that fought him, and always failed.

But there werent oomans shooting at him right now. Now there were completely different enemies. They werent of flesh, blood and bone. These were made of metal, fuel and plastic. They werent creatures. They were machines!!! In all of his long life, Gri'Chak had never fought with machines. These could see Gri'Chak and his allies, even with their cloaking devices on. They were relentless in their hunting, trying to route out Gri'Chak and his fellow hunters.

Gri'Chak had been hit with explosive clumps of ooman metal, burning stingers and shrapnel. These new enemies however were using energy weapons! Some of these machines resembled oomans, except they were larger, stronger and more deadly. Others were more like the giant metal monsters that the yautja warrior had seen during wars between the oomans. What were they called? Tanks? The metal monsters were feared by all that came against them. Thier weapons wielded incredible power! But these new ones were even more fierce. Then there were sky farring machines. They could hover and zip around the landscape like demonic insects. And they all bore depressingly deadly weaponry. They spat purple lances of energy.

Instead of feeling fear, Gri-Chak felt something else. He was pissed! He had already lost 3 other comrades in this battle. The tai-te, humanoid machines, were going to pay for their actions. The hunting party had already claimed more than a dozen of the tai-te, but there were plenty more to take thier places. The tai-te weapons were similar to the yautja's own plasma weapons. But these had greater range and hit faster than the yautja plasma caster bolts. But the plasma casters hit much harder. A single bolt to the head or chest to one of the tai-te was an assured kill. Not to mention that a maybe 5 or 6 bolts could destroy one of their tank like vehicles. They had very strong armor, but couldnt withstand the pure hitting power of the yautja plasma bolts.

And luckily, Gri'Chak had brought along a little something else. A burner plasma rifle was among some of the most powerful weapons that a yautja warrior could bare. They were usually for all out war or kainde amedha hive invasions. But Gri'Chak wasnt one to be stupid. Before departing from the ship, he had grabbed a burner rifle. A single well placed shot from it could kill a queen kainde amedha. Gri'Chak never really planned on using it, but he had suspected that something was still wrong with this planet. The readings he had gotten were very strange. He had also learned just how inventive the oomans could be. Their technology was always getting better. And he was glad he had broght this weapon. Now was the time to use it.

As long as the tai-te held their own burners, none of his warriors would engage them with their close range weapons. The energy weapons they used could fry flesh off of bone, and even cause organisms to explode from the intense heat they gave off. Right now Gri'Chak and his group were outnumbered and outgunned. This was not the time for hunting. It was the time for survival. Gri'Chak hoped that the other hunting group would know to regroup at the ship as well.

Gri'Chak heard a telltale hum approach. Another h'cark-te. A flying machine. Gri'Chak now unstrapped his burner. The h'cark-te over passed his roost, now placing his burner to his shoulder. Gri'Chak could now see the vehicles front and aimed, waiting for a weaker point. That point soon came into view. The two engines that kept the vehicle aloft. Gri'Chak growled, savoring the moment before his kill. The twin engines were now in view, burning bright yellow in his infra-red vision. He pressed the triggering button. A bolt of coruscating red plasma energy belched out from the burners muzzle. The bolt lanced forward and struck dead in the middle of the h'cark-te's left turbine. The following actions happened within a fraction of a second.  As the bolt got closer, the alloys that the vehicle was made of melted together like chocolate beneath a butane flame. Then as the bolt actually made contact, the fourth state of matter punched through the softened metal as if it were cardboard. The bolt continued on from the ravaged engine and slammed into the front of the vehicle, decapitating it. The wrecked vehicle veered off its course... and straight for a small group of tai-te.

The tai-te looked up, obviously not expecting the rampant chunk of metal and circuitry. But they didnt show any fear, not even surprise. They just did what any other creature wanting to survive. They ran in away from the fly battering ram. They moved swiftly, but accurately. They calculated their movements, needing to be as effecient as possible. Gri'Chak had to admit, they were impressive. As the h'cark-te barreled towards them, it crushed 8 of the fleeing machines beneath its metal hull. But there were no screams of agony, no roars of anger. But the destruction didnt go without acknowledgement. Gri'Chak roared loudly, letting any and all know that he was responsible for the carnage. The veteran warrior felt a surge of accomplishment. One shot and nine kills. Not a bad shot. But it didnt banish the feeling of sarrow from his heart. There were still 3 of his allies dead due to these metal demons.

Gri'Chak's chest burned at that. These were an abomination! They killed for no apperent reason. They didnt kill for honor, or food, survival, but just to kill. Where did these come from?! Would the oomans create such feral warmachines? And where were the oomans? Were they all dead? Too many unknowns. Right now he had to move. Before ducking behind the cement again, he caught sight of a tai-te aiming at his hiding spot. It was carrying a very large burner. The old warrior doubted his position would last much longer. So he decided to abondon it. He jumped from the top of the 3 story building straight to the ground. The drop passed by in a flash. He absorbed the impact with his powerful knees, more than able to support his massive frame. It was a good move too. A moment later his former hiding spot was blasted into molten chunks of superheated shrapnel.

Time to go! Gri'Chak sprinted towards a pile of rock garbage, his spear in his right hand, his burner in his left.
