Im basically just going to list the stories in the volume, give an opinion on each story along with its art and storyline, and then mention whether you should spend your money on it.
Predator Omnibus Vol. 1
Now this is certainly something that a Predator fan will want to have. This beauty contains 7 stories that you will want to look at!
The first story we have in here is Predator Concrete Jungle. Definitely a story you wanna see! Its almost a direct continuation of the original movie, and kinda where they got the idea for the movie Predator 2. Trust me, look close and you can see the similarities. Anywhat, the plot is pretty darn good, and the art isnt something to laugh at either. I love a lot of the expressions they have and the firearms the draw are always real ones! Not just look a-likes. Only thing I dont like is Scheafer's corny lines that he uses every few pages. Other than that miniscule thing, it is an awesome comic!
Next up is Predator Cold War. This is a direct continuation of Predator Concrete Jungle, and Im glad to say that they do a pretty good job at it. The storyline is simply awesome, not to mention we get more looks at predator equipment. Plus, you can totally tell that the ship was either based off of the one in Predator 2, or vice versa. Either way, the story is great and the art, while a tiny step down from before, is still fun to look at. Heehee... Theres one picture where Scheafer looks just like Buzz Lightyear!
After that is Predator Dark River. This is yet another continuation, coming off of Predator Cold War. I have to say, the storyline for this one is just plain horrible. It kinda butchered whatever came in before, which was a discusting thing to do. Sure, the art was good, but the senseless slaughter of the two masterpieces that came before sickens me. I know that Scheafer always did have a habit for cheesy lines, but in this, everyone has them and abuses them to the point of insanity!!! Plus, Philips has a completely different attitude from the other comics. What the heck? The series truly would have been better without this excuse for a comic.
After that is Rite of Passage. This story aint half bad. There isnt any dialouge. It is very short story, only 16 pages. The art is kinda downhill though. But its still a cute little thing.
Then we have The Pride of Nghasa. Now this is actually a pretty good story. The art isnt anything to adore over, but its easily forgiveable.
Now for Bloody Sands of Time. Now this one has a really different art style. I always seem to enjoy it. But the storyline, well, hardly has any predator activity at all! In this story, the predators are more like backround characters than anything else. Plus, they arent afraid to be brutal in this. There is some very graphic stuff, including a discusting nudity scene, some soldier giving his CO's the finger, and some harsh language. So watch out for this one. But aside from that, its an okay story if you just like senceless slaughter and mayhem.
And last, and least, is Predator Blood Fued. This is, in my opinion, a waste of a story. Not only was the art ugly and hard to look at, but the storyline was simply awfull. Thats two big holes in the hull of that boat. I wasted ten minutes of my life reading this story.
All in all, this is a must for any Predator fan and you wont be dissapointed by what you find in here. Hope you find my review helpful!
